Abstract
The incidence of ischemic stroke and Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA) can be expected to increase. The burden of stroke with its social and economic consequences is becoming one of the major health problems which we have to deal with. Studies show that a majority of patients of Ischemic-Stroke will survive their first stroke, but, a substantial number of them will suffer a second stroke. Patients with a TIA should be treated as carefully as patients with an ischemic stroke because they have a high risk of an ischemic stroke especially within the days soon after their neurological symptoms occur. The evidence based recommendations have been deliberated upon to reduce the risk of a TIA and ischemic stroke in the secondary prevention.
