Abstract
Gastrointestinal bleed is one of the commonest emergency. Peptic ulcers make up 50% of these cases. Risk stratification, resuscitation are essential in early management of GI bleed, early endoscopy is the main tool in managing and idenfifying the patient with higher risk of recurrent bleed and offers an opportunity to control bleed.With advancement of endoscopic hemostatic techniques like injectionl therapy thermal and mechanical methods, availability of parenteral proton pump inhibitors, interventional Radiologicaltechnicques, the management of non-variceal upper GI bleeding is rapidly changed. Second look endoscopy with retreatment is helpful in selected patients.
