Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a relatively common condition with an incidence of 1 to 1000. Symptoms are mostly related to hyper-calcemia and bone, renal, GI and neuromuscular complications may arise because of this. Diagnosis and confirmation is by PTH assays, nuclear medicine and other radiological studies. Surgical treatment is curative, but may not be necessary in all cases.
