Abstract
Video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) or thoracoscopic surgery is rapidly becoming a popular method for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Many diseases of the chest can now be diagnosed due to ease of look and biopsy. Also therapeutic procedures can be done using minimal access thereby giving the patient a tremendous benefit on the morbidity front. Thoracoscopy is being used for diseases of the pleura, lung, mediastinum, spine and heart.
