Abstract
This comprehensive overview provides the reader with an understanding of basic skin anatomy, priorities of care, wound assessment, physiologic considerations, and early management of burns in children. Special emphasis is placed on triage and assessment of severity as a guide to formulating a definitive treatment strategy. New treatment modalities can help optimize burn care for children.
