Abstract
Subcoracoid dislocation of the distal clavicle is an exceedingly rare injury that is typically the result of high-energy trauma, is often associated with concurrent injuries, and can easily be missed in the acute setting. Early open reduction with fixation of the acomioclavicular joint in these cases is recommended to optimise shoulder function and to avoid recurrent acomioclavicular instability and degenerative change. We present the unusual case of subcoracoid dislocation of the distal clavicle that did not require internal fixation or reconstruction following reduction, with satisfactory shoulder function maintained eight years after injury.
