Abstract
Management of wounds of diabetic foot at the emergency department engages the functional future. Constant concern should be to avoid amputation surgery and probabilistic antibiotic treatment. This requires a careful assessment of the wound particularly its ischemic and infectious components and should be considered in the general context of the patient. In most cases, therapeutic decisions can wait the advice of the multidisciplinary team. This work proposes guidelines to assist the emergency physician in the choice of immediate actions.
