Abstract
We propose a management guideline for the Emergency Unit. Clinical variables (hemodynamic instability, persistent abdominal pain and abdominal tenderness) and biological variables (increased liver enzymes and lipase levels, microscopic hematuria, low hematocrit level) help to identify high-risk patients with intra-abdominal injuries. These patients need specifically an abdominal computed tomography. A prospective study will determine the utility of the guideline to identify patients with splenic, hepatic or renal injuries after an abdominal blunt trauma.
