Abstract

MethodsA retrospective comparative study was performed at a level 1 trauma center at which electronic medical records and digital radiographs were reviewed for 949 femoral neck fractures. For the primary outcome of reoperation based on age, Kaplan–Meier models were built and analysis applied.ResultsA total of 334 fractures were nondisplaced treated with closed reduction and percutaneous pinning (CRPP), and 615 were displaced managed with hemiarthroplasty (HA). Overall, 98 patients (10.33%) required reoperation. Increasing reoperation rates for CRPP was seen with each subsequent age group. The opposite was seen with HA in which increasing age groups showed lower reoperation rates.
