Abstract
Stroke rehabilitation may be defined as the restoration of optimal levels of physical, psychological, functional and social ability within the needs and desires of the individual and his or her family. As the pattern of disability may vary, a range of services is required to tailor any individual rehabilitation programme. Depending upon the disability which is identified, inputs may be required from diverse medical specialities, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, nursing, medical staff and others. These individual services are available depending on ictus progression in hospital facilities, as inpatient or outpatient basis, as well as in the community.
