Abstract
Preâoperative hospitalization is associated with an increased incidence of postâoperative infections, often with organisms that are resistant to surgical chemoprophylaxis. Patients hospitalized up to 1Â year before HPB surgery may benefit from extended spectrum chemoprophylaxis.
