Abstract
For decades, treatment of type 2 diabetes was relatively simple. In case of failure of metformin, the choice was limited either to sulfonylureas or insulin. At present, the development and marketing of new classes of oral or injectable antidiabetics and new insulins allow better individualization of the patient's treatment. Such advances are particularly welcome in the Maghreb countries including Morocco, where the epidemic of type 2 diabetes is becoming a health priority. Unfortunately, difficulties related to lifestyle and economic circumstances result in the fact that a large number of patients with diabetes remains poorly controlled.
