Abstract
Many popular and commercial weight-loss diets promise an easy and fast weight loss. Most of them - low or very low calorie diet, high protein diet, or dissociated- are frustrating and followed by a weight rebound rapid in almost all cases. When they are repeated they induce a disturbing loss of the lean body mass, supports psychological distress and eating disorders, and enhances the cardiovascular risks. Only a few diets and the food coaching may be acceptable although they don't fully fulfil the requirements of a global method based on nutritional balance, on nutritional education, and physical activity. A weight loss diet is a full-fledged treatment which requests a medical follow-up.
