Abstract
Necrobiosis lipoidica in diabetic patients is a common dermatological manifestation well known especially in young patients with type 1 diabetes. But it became very rare in our countries for about two decades. Should this reflect a better care, a more stringent glycemic control during the same period? This also argues for a link with severe chronic hyperglycemia and therefore a mechanism related to microangiopathy. Treatment remains difficult, based on local care, mainly corticosteroids but many other local or systemic therapies have been reported with disparate results and relating to a very small number of cases.
