Abstract
Women who have had gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) should be tested for abnormal postpartum glucose levels, this testing is rarely performed. Thanks to the support of Novo Nordisk France Laboratory, we conducted an information campaign (IMPACT) from 4 centers of the department to encourage women to perform this test. The intervention included a conference and distribution of explanatory materials to women and general practitioners. There were 589 women in the control group and 372 in the intervention's one. The postpartum screening increased from 33% to 49% after the campaign with an increased in the percentage of glucose load performed (from 6% to 33% of the tests). Among determinants factors of screening, we described, depending on the period, a lower baby weight, not smoking, a daily consumption of fruits and vegetables, insulinotherapy during pregnancy, a previous GDM, and the IMPACT campaign. We found no link between high deprivation level or higher diabetes risk score and practice of screening. These results are encouraging and provide new ways to improve type 2 diabetes screening.
