Abstract
To understand food practices and their social differentiation, it is necessary to look also at representations of the body and ideals that have individuals. Indeed, if obesity is now a major public health issue, the corpulence is a very special physical character, mixing closely health and appearance issues, in which food plays an important part. But the perception that each of us has of his size varies greatly between social and gender groups, which has a direct impact on practices, especially food, and social inequalities.
