Abstract
The firm diagnosis of RH requires the conjunction of classical clinical signs of hypoglycemia and demonstration, preferably on repeated samples, of values below 54Â mg/dl in venous plasma or capillary blood. The treatment of RH should be essentially based on specific dietary modifications which should be clearly explained to the patient. If a drug prescription seems necessary, acarbose could be indicated in all types of RH; other oral antidiabetic drugs, excluding insulinsecretory ones, as first line choice, can be envisaged in patients with dysglycemia.
