Abstract
Recent guidelines concerning type 2 diabetes propose individualized decisions. The aim of this article is to show that it is a come-back to a basic principle of evidence-based medicine which may have been gradually ignored during the last decades where this new manner of practicing medicine became more and more important: a medical decision must take into account not only the best available science, but also the patients' characteristics and preferences.
