Abstract
A considerable proportion of pituitary insufficient patients treated with a conventional medical treatment and in which the deficit in growth hormone was not substituted are overweight or obese. The excess of fatty mass is primarily related to intra-abdominal organs and lean mass is decreased. The increase in the prevalence of obesity, diabetes mellitus and plurimetabolic syndrome leads to an increased incidence of the non alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) syndrome. The NASH syndrome is associated with the insulin resistance often observed in patients with conventionally substituted pituitary insufficiency.
