Abstract
Prescriptive attitude alone is not enough. But therapeutic education focused solely on the transmission of knowledge and know-how, either, even if it meets the identified needs with the patient. Mobilization and implementation of adaptive phenomena are necessary to the patient. Adherence to therapy in diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes, is considered poor especially on the long term. Better understanding of the issues and means of action is a tool to determine compliance. More relevant is the adherence concept of “therapeutic alliance”. This increases the autonomy of the patient. The role of the caregiver - the trainer - is to create an environment conducive to learning and to respect the rhythm of the subject. We recall the fundamentals of therapeutic patient education and new ways open today.
