Abstract
Two cases reports permitted to prove the benefit of combined pancreatic islet transplantation performed by islet intraportal injection in patients with cystic fibrosis by restoring both lung function and metabolic control. A multicenter, pilot study should confirm these results. By restoring an endogen insulin production and an optimal glucose control, the expected result is that islet transplantation reduces the morbidity of lung transplantation and improves the quality of life in patients with CFRD.
