Abstract
Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is the most frequent neuropathy in developed country. However there are many other etiologies for bilateral and symmetric neuropathy. DN can be silent for a long time and go undetected, while exercising its ravages leading to the “diabetic foot”; so it must be diagnose. DN always begins at the lower extremity and must be detected at the halux. Pain can occur but clinical symptoms and signs are non-specific and insidious. Vibration perception threshold is the most powerful tool as it provides numerical values that can help for determination of “at risk” value.
