Abstract
Coronary heart disease is the main cause of death among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Classical methods of detection can sometimes be misleading and asymptomatic myocardial ischemia makes this screening difficult. New tools recently appear like calculation of coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring by CT-scan. Coronary arterial calcification only occurs in atherosclerosis arteries. A zero CAC has a high negative predictive value and can help in ruling out a coronary heart disease. Moreover, the CAC score adds an incremental prognostic value to precise cardiovascular risk level.
