Abstract
Insulin resistance is associated with numerous physiological and pathophysiological conditions such as metabolic syndrome, some cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. Insulin sensitivity assessment is useful to understand pathophysiological mechanisms, to underly subjects or populations at higher risk or to evaluate intervention efficiency. In this article, we describe the most used tests and methods of analyse for assessing human insulin sensitivity in clinical research or in clinical practice. We summarize their modalities, significances, advantages and limitations.
