Clopidogrel and low doses of aspirin cause a similar degree of gastric mucosal damage. Rabeprazole prevented this damage without reducing the antiplatelet function of clopidogrel. However, its prophylactic effect varies with CYP2C19 genotype in H pylori-negative subjects.
