Abstract
The role of laparoscopy in diverticular disease continues to evolve. Minimally invasive surgery for diverticular disease has been shown to reduce complications, hospital stay, and time to return of bowel function. Multiple techniques have been used, each with their own advantages. Complicated and emergency treatment of diverticular disease has been successfully treated using laparoscopic techniques. A variety of approaches and the current literature on risks and benefits will be reviewed.
