Abstract
An extended resection of the colon and rectum may be required in a variety of diseases, including neoplastic, inflammatory, and functional conditions. Restorative procedures after an extended resection are meant to avoid a permanent stoma, achieve good function and quality of life (QoL), and reduce complication rates to a minimum.
