Abstract
Health care workers in the endoscopy suite are subject to a variety of potential infectious exposures. The published risks of percutaneous and mucocutaneous exposure to potentially infectious material during endoscopy are reviewed. Rigorous attention to standard precautions and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment may minimize the risk of infection in the health care worker.
