Abstract
Procedural sedation and analgesia is a crucial component of gastrointestinal endoscopy. Assessment of sedation risk, proper training and recognition of potential adverse physiologic events are the keystones to success. This chapter will provide an evidence-based review of these topics in addition to emerging trends in sedation and advanced physiologic monitoring.
