Abstract
Endoscopy has been established as a safe and effective procedure in the diagnosis and management of various gastrointestinal conditions. Certain patient populations require careful consideration when endoscopic procedures are performed. The pregnant and the elderly are two populations that necessitate increased attention when endoscopy is implemented. This review will discuss the special considerations required in these patient populations, to thereby minimize potential morbidity and mortality.
