Abstract
SUMMARYKnowing the molecular basis of mitochondria, the aging process of the mitochondrial machinery and recognition of its disorders are becoming more important in modern medicine. The diagnosis of mitochondrial disease (MtD) is possible only when one is aware of it. The heterogeneity of MtD in terms of its phenotype expression and genotype variations makes MtD very unique. Current opinion on the clinical approach to patients with suspected mitochondrial disorders are highlighted in this review.
