Abstract
Cerebral stroke is a common and serious condition, particularly in the elderly population. The medical stakes of its support are considerable, both individually and collectively. We offer an overview of the theoretical and effective management of stroke in the elderly according to related data from the literature. Atrial fibrillation is a major cause of stroke in the elderly and its embolic risk needs to be prevented by effective anticoagulation. Intravenous thrombolysis in acute stroke is beneficial regardless of age and remains possible beyond 80 years. The rehabilitation is ideally led in a unit specialized in geriatrics and neurology.
