Abstract
Alzheimer's disease and associated disorders assume clinical specificities related to the stages of the disease. Indeed, these need to be taken into account in tailoring the management of these patients. The French 2008-2012 Alzheimer Plan, with regard to its 16th and 17th points, has led to the creation of new specific wards, specialized in managing such patients (strengthened hospitalization units, cognitive and behavior management unitsâ¦). Short-term stay Alzheimer units constitute the missing link in the chain of this Plan. With regard to our experience in creating such a unit in the Reims Teaching Hospital, we propose to detail the objectives and the organization together with the advantages of such units.
