Abstract
Alzheimer's disease and related disorders (AD) are often associated with an alteration of the circadian structure and distribution of sleep. Moreover, sleep disorders are often worsened by the institutionalisation of people with AD. In a large study on a psycho-environmental intervention program, we were able to enlighten the impact of nightshifts on institutionalised people with AD. Results suggest that the implementation of adapted nightshifts is an essential prerequisite to any technical intervention for sleep disorders.
