Abstract
The authors examined the effects of leisure activity on depressed affect among elderly people, one of the variables linked to well-being and adaptation. The sample consisted of 571 elders who were 66-95 years of age. Results suggest a positive effect: leisure and activity have a significant contribution to depressed affect. Physical activities are essential on this subject, as well as the activities involving a social commitment. Positive effects of interpersonal exchanges are reaffirmed beyond the specificities of the activities.
