Abstract
When elderly people can express themselves, what do they tell us about their past, present and future and how do they tell it? Are their words constrained? How does being old affect the freedom of expression? To answer these questions, the FNG has created “A letter sent to…”, a project which enables old people attending senior centers and home care services or living in institutions to write a letter on a subject they choose. The FNG decided to continue this action by studying the themes, the form, the syntax and the lexicon used in a sample of 303 letters and with a qualitative analysis based on interviews with professionals and authors who have taken part in this action.
