Abstract
Geriatric assessment is a crucial element in the context of preventive medicine and improved care for the elderly. Under the leadership of the geriatrician, the assessment process involves a close collaboration between all those involved in healthcare. For the nurse, the assessment process can be viewed at different levels, advantageously described with various measurement tools or scales for comprehensive geriatric assessment. In our experience, the use of a standardized tool (évaluation gériatrique standardisée [EGS]) has confirmed the importance of the nursing staff in improving the quality of healthcare provided to the elderly.
