Abstract
The prevalence of benzodiazepine (BZD) use is very high in France, especially among people aged 65 years or over. In this paper, we overviewed the literature on BZD use and BZD-related disorders in the elderly. Many studies have reported medical effects, especially psychomotor and cognitive effects, of BZD use in elderly. But very few studies have been devoted to BZD dependence in this population aged 65 years or over. In this work we examined a specific case of BZD dependence in order to better ascertain the clinical situation of BZD use and misuse leading to dependence.
