Abstract
Gambling has been investigated widely in North America, but in France little work has been devoted to the topic. This is particularly so for older adults despite the fact that gambling is one of the most frequently reported social activities in this population. Participations rate have doubled in recent decades. The prevalence of pathological gambling within this population could be linked to the availability of gambling activities. From a selection of literature, we tried to identify specific features of gambling among older adults, including demographic and personal behavioral characteristics, motivations, gambling behaviors and effects of gambling on health.
