Abstract
When caring for elderly patients with numerous pathological conditions, the multidisciplinary approaches proposed do not all correspond to a single paradigm. Three models of actions with a transdisciplinary impact can be proposed: coping with different levels of realty and perception; decision-making in cooperation with the patient; open system of analysis accepting minority views. For psychogeriatric patients, the difficulties encountered are often linked to the complex-clinical situation resulting from interactions between multiple diseases or between the disease process and the human environment. A transdisciplinary approach smooths out some of the diagnostic and therapeutic problems so that care can be adapted to the patient's changing condition, the patient being a real partner in the decision-making process.
