Abstract
The evaluation of the polypathology of the old subjects has a prognostic interest in term of dependence and mortality and can help to anticipate complications as hospitalizations and important costs. Several indices were validated but only the index of Charlson and the Cumulative Illness Rating Scale (CIRS) can be used to quantify the weight of comorbidity in elder subjects. No threshold was defined to predict dependence and mortality but the calculation of these indices allows calculating the risk of mortality. Prevention, ethical reflexion and the evaluation of the benefit/risk of each drug can anticipate many events or complications.
