Abstract
Different types of psycho-behavioural, psycho-social and/or cognitive intervention complementary to pharmacological treatment are currently proposed to patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease. It is generally recommended that these interventions be provided together with educational programmes for familial caregivers. However studies showing the benefit of such combined (pharmacological and non-pharmacological) approaches are still lacking. Currently we test the hypothesis that a psycho-educative programme for familial caregivers associated with a pharmacological treatment with anticholinesterasic drug to patients provides a significant clinical benefit to both patients and caregivers.
