Abstract
The rare disease plans consider the consequences of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura on the quality of life of children and adolescents. This study aimed at a better comprehension of the effects of the disease on young people's choice in sports and leisure activities. It was based on a 2013Â survey by the Centre de Référence National des Cytopénies Auto-immunes de l'Enfant. Nineteen interviews were performed on children and adolescents aged 7Â to 19. They allowed us to identify four different profiles of engagement in physical activity (“no physical activity”; “low physical activity”; “moderate physical activity” and “intensive physical activity”). For each group, the study established the reasons for maintaining or giving up physical activity and we suggest appropriate support according to their familial and school situation.
