Abstract
ABSTRACTAntimicrobial Peptides and Proteins (AMPs) represent effector molecules of the innate defense system in all organisms. AMPs are either constitutively or inducibly produced mainly by various epithelial cells, including keratinocytes. This report reviews our current knowledge about the major yet known keratinocyte-derived AMPs, its role in healthy skin and atopic dermatitis.
