Abstract
Patients under oncology surgery and septic anaemic patients presented lymphopeny and alterations in their lymphocyte populations. The immune alterations in anaemic patients could be accompanied by increased frequency of post-surgery infections and/or a difficult control of the established sepsis. The treatment of anaemia (iron, with/without EPO, etc) could improve the immune responses of these patients.
