Abstract
SummaryGram-positive bacteria have evolved to become predominant health care associated pathogens. To meet this challenge, novel approaches to the development, prescribing, and control of antibiotics will be needed. Additional infection control methods must also be explored. This review discusses the challenges posed in particular by methicillin-resistant staphylococci and potential ways forward.
