Abstract
Globalization also affects pathology. Diseases that were previously uncommon in our clinics are becoming more and more prevalent. These kinds of diseases, whether infectious or not, may have rheumatic manifestations leading the patient to rheumatological clinics. Specific treatments for these diseases can often be curative whereas therapies commonly used for arthropathies do not work. On the other hand such diseases can cause serious complications in immunosuppresed patients. Thus, there is a need for greater awareness of tropical diseases and their rheumatic manifestations among clinicians.
