Abstract
The necessary prophylactic measures in adult patients with rheumatic diseases include various aspects. Vaccination has been perhaps the most important achievement of the last century in Medicine and the application of the vaccination calendar has prevented the lost of millions of human lives. Adult patients with rheumatic diseases should undergo the current recommendations of vaccination. In addition, those at risk of immunodeppression due to disease or therapy should complete their protection with vaccines against pneumococco, meningococco and Haemophilus influenzae type B. In this article, a vaccination calendar is proposed in immunocompromised patients based on the scarce recommendations found. Indications of septic arthritis, pneumocystosis and tuberculosis prophylaxis are reviewed with special emphasis on TNF-α blocker agents. Finally, some aspects about migratory movements that could affect to rheumatic patients are considered.
