Abstract
SummaryCryptococcus neoformans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that causes a variety of diseases in immunosuppressed patients. We describe a patient with sarcoidosis and odynophagia admitted with a large retropharyngeal abscess. Aspiration showed budding yeast and culture identified C. neoformans, confirmed by D2 large subunit rRNA gene sequencing.
