Abstract
Development of means of neonatal diagnosis is necessary to insure an early access to antiretroviral therapy for the infected ones. While waiting for the diagnosis, a prophylaxis with co-trimoxazole is started from six weeks to reduce the morbidity of opportunistic infections. WHO recommend early treatment of all confirmed infected children under 12 months. “CHER” assay has shown that the mortality is then reduced by 75%. Efforts have been made in the presentation of antiretroviral molecules for children. Efficacy of the treatment is followed, clinically and biologically. A particular accent has to be put on prevention, nutritional support, creation of units taking care of the entire family, gratuity for the children.
